Happy Birthday Cody

It is hard for me to believe that Cody has become a teenager! Really, it only seems like yesterday and he was my little Jedi. Cody has always brought joy into our family. He has helped keep my on my toes too! I loved watching him play as a little boy. What an imagination he had and he was such an entertaining imaginer! I remember well one day looking into the backyard and seeing Cody with Chris' cowboy boots on (they went up passed his knees), a superhero cape on, and a jedi sword in his hand. He was running all over the yard, slaying the imaginary bad guys. I don't know how we ever got so blessed to receive such a fun spirited child into our family but I will be forever grateful!

Cody had a soccer game the evening of his birthday and he played an outstanding game. Chris did a good job of embarressing Cody. Right before the game began, Chris called out to Cody, "Happy Birthday Cody!" All of the team members then started to ask Cody if it was his birthday and then responded by giving him the same birthday wish. It was awesome! It brought big smiles to our faces as we watched him with his friends.

Cody's birthday meal request was a shrimp boil. One word of advice in regards to this meal...DO NOT ever cook it inside of your home! Holy moly, the spices that you put in it were so strong we were all coughing and gagging from them. I have always cooked it outdoors and had no idea that it would do such a thing. It made for some pretty good laughs as we could not stop coughing until the meal was done cooking, which took about 40 minutes. I will say about the boil though, it was the BEST one I have ever made and I think that it was due to the fact that I used a smaller pot and so my water content was much less. It was SPICY!
For the last month Cody has been dropping some pretty big hints about the things that he would like for his birthday. Two of those things were a hermit crab and a coconut. I found an aquarium at a yard sale for a buck and so I decided that I would be okay with getting the crab. Crazy how a screaming good deal will help you in making a decision! The coconut was an easy choice and fun to watch as he tasted the milk form the coconut. Good times for sure!

Cody wanted a peanut butter chocolate pie which was super easy to make and was pretty tasty too!

It was a good day for Cody and for our family as well! I know that at times I make comments about now having 3 teenagers in our home but I have to share a little secret with you...I LOVE IT! There are challenges that come with these years and lots of fears, but overall our boys have made us very happy and have become such good friends with each other as well as with us as their parents. I am grateful to be a mother during this time on earth! Cody, we love you and are so proud of you!
