Our first few weeks in North Dakota have proved to be an adventure.
Home Sweet Home...with the biggest pile of snow on the street! Thankfully it has melted
completely away and we can see the grass starting to turn green.
All I can say is that the kids LOVED playing in the snow. It has taken me a bit of "learning" as to how to handle wet boots, wet coats, wet snowpants, wet hats, and wet gloves. I thought I bought waterproof gloves, but most of the time the kids come in with cold, wet gloves. I'd love to hear suggestions if anyone has any to share.
Our first week here, Macie went to the park by our home and came home most excited because she had found a "five point" deer antler! Chris went out a couple of days later and came home the same way...excited because he had found the match. Macie informed us that she would sale her antler for $100,000 if anyone is interested.
Our family took a trip to the Heritage Center and was totally amazed at all the exhibits on display. I especially loved the fact that it was free and gave us something to do on a cold day. We will definately take all visitors to this museum as it really is VERY good! (Hint, hint.)
The weekend before Easter, the zoo here tried to break the Guiness Book Record for the longest bunny hop. Entrance to the zoo was free and the kiddo's were also able to participate in an egg hunt. This was the first time since being here that I was seriously cold! I had to come home and crank up the heat and stay covered in blankets to warm my old bones.
I just had to show you what we have experienced here as far as weather goes. We were so lucky to enjoy some days where we didn't need to wear jackets. It felt so good to be outside in the sunshine.
This is what we woke to the very next day! Out with the coats!

If you don't know me too well then you may not know that I love to play tricks and get a good laugh out of doing crazy things every now and then. I am a huge copy cat and would recommend Shelly Wille's books if you love to do crazy things with your family. I have done a lot of what she has done because of how fun it is. Here we have April Fools Day. I put breakfast out the night before. What made it even better was that it started raining right as the kids had to go outside to get their breakfast. I laughed and laughed watching them.
This joke didn't turn out the way I had expected. I thought for sure that "mom was going to rock" for dinner but not so. I did a reverse dinner and let them have dessert first and as much as they wanted. Instead of cheers I heard moans and complaints. It was especially funny to me because they wanted to have the main course which were about as healthy as the dessert (corndogs) but before they could have them they had to "finish their dessert". Good times, good times!
The kids had a day off on Monday and so we enjoyed the beautiful weather by going to the river and building boats. It was so much fun and we are loving the awesome spring weather.
Stay tuned...more posts to follow!
